Greetings sports fans hope all is well in your world this weekend
1. As of today Team Oilers are 1st Place, followed closely by the wings and Sea Lions, looks like the Top 3 has pretty much been decided but final positions will go down to the final days of the SFHL. On side H2H you have Det v Van and Edm v Sea final 4
2. See the Wings got there FA signing in Peca, but not much else has happen on either fronts from in season pickups or trades. I thought maybe Vancity would add a piece for there 2nd round match up but nothing...its so slow & nothing happening one GM said he rather learn the run-skate move from old man tuna (former Kings GM).
3. I wanted touch on the Trade Movement as I feel it ties into a few things. We have heard the Commish talk about this in the past, which is Teams/GM's will need to change with the landscape with keepers being 12 vs 15, that this might be learning curve for some that you need to give up asset(s) if you want to win the Cup, Picks, and that acquired player very well could just be used as rental and end up in the UFA in the summer-fall....So some teams maybe reluctant to trade pick, prospect or roster player knowing at the end of the day they could lose them for nothing...but its the name of the game, you should have to pay the admission + snacks to get into the Top 3 and win H2H...I think teams will figure things out with the 12 keepers in due time......

One last thing on trades...from league sources sounds like there could be a change in the wind when dealing with off-season moves, that there might be a limit on how many deals or players you can trade...i hear its going to be 3 player limit (prospects & picks are not included in the trade limit)...some ask why, it had to do with previous off-seasons that teams load up to win (trading assets) then re-aquried said assets in the off-season (same cycle)...this will open UFA, as well some teams dont deal with each other as often..better playing field?
5. What about the Cam Neely Seabassment its pretty close and cant wait play downs, this is after all for lottery balls...and that #1 pick looks like a lock
6. Playoffs H2H heard they may move them up look for the 2nd Monday of Jan, as well I dont think Commish Office likes the Elite 8 2 weeks, feels its rather long...look for them to do 10 or so but make sure they hit the high traffic days of games...Finals would prob stay 2wks...
7. Could SFHL in 2019 take out the 4th round (known as this years Draft Class only) can be picked...creating a better pool of Entries as well 3 rounds + winners is still a good draft number? assume more chit chat will happen in the spring
8. So I heard the math guys talking about how the MLS helps sort out the cap/player salary caps TAM and DP, GAM and so on...but for you hockey fans it might look something like this franchise tag full year or two (SFT - Max Salary would be say 6.5M so if you had a player making 10M his new cap hit would be 6.5 (vs topic of 1/2 of that players cap) this would be across the board so all teams would have 1 designated player @ 6.5M (just a number I'm using)
9. No news on relocation cities, I hope the Commish & SFHL find a new home 14 teams is a perfect number...He feels he has a solid core group and there shouldnt be any more teams saying Bye Bye..lets hope not

11. Is it Spring Yet? The commish has said he will be chatting with Gms in the coming weeks, to hear feedback on the league and what and if there needs to be something added or change...it wouldnt happen over night, but commish jv wants to continue to have Fun in SFHL

14. There has been some soft talk about draft wknd in the fall of 2018, not sure if it will happen my money is on 2019...location will prob be the T.O region, or maybe right downtown Owen Sound I know the commish would love to get one day/wknd for the boys to do a draft
