1. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and spent some time with family & friends singing carols. Geez will it ever stop snowing, and boy its been a tad chilly these past few weeks. It was a little sad not to see the ever sometimes popular SFHL X-Mas Party, I guess theres always next year...Turtle Power !!
2. Haven't got this confirmed yet from The Commissioners Office, but league sources have said the Whalers are up for sale and a very good chance of relocating (haven't heard any prospective owners but I know the league wants 14 teams) Ouch if true you wouldve think the timing was better in the off-season this past fall when we said good-bye to King Tuna, and Jase the Flame Botting. But the sell is you get Sid, Stamp, Malkin to name a few..
3. I wonder what GM's had on there list for santa as we gear up to H2H and the Top 3 Drive. Vancity bolster there D getting Schlutz, and Seattle went the other way adding some grit in Roussel and some offence in Jake Guenztal...I think we will see a few more moves before playoffs start JAN 15th 2018 as well leading into the Trade Deadline (nhl Feb 26th) SFHL March 5th . You got to think everyone on Flyers, Sabres roster are up for grabs as those GM's look to win some lottery balls.
4. PLAYOFFS H2H !!! OH YA BABY Will start Monday, January 15th please mark your calendars. I know the Commish and other Owners are excited to see this being pushed up from March. As this will add the excitement for some of those that cant reach the Top 3
5. Elite 8 will be determined after saturdays games 13th of Jan. This allows GM's to prep and get ready so I think the league is doing a good job with that in mind. As I mention the whole Hartford thing has maybe thrown a wrench into the Cam Neely Bassment H2H, as such I have heard the bottom teams (5) will do a quick round-robin then face off 1v4 and 2v3 in the semi finals (this of course means one team will be finished) then winners facing for lottery balls.
6. The Commish will be re-activating the H2H Playoffs later this week, I will post informing you as I believe I can get the rosters up-to-date.
7. I was told all rules will be forth with, but pretty much same as last year...22 man rosters (82M or less) any player in the organization, will see a small change that in category will be 1 pt, no roster moves, and goalies our the only ones eligible for IR...should be fun cant wait to see how it goes down this year.
8. If you havent heard the board of governors aka the Commish & "phat cats" has said the league will operate with the 12 keeper rule for the next couple years...also havent been told if its being discuss but heard there might be off-season trade limit 2-3...
9. wow took me a little longer, but look at mr.rack 108.5pts leading the league (bravo sir) followed closely by Oilers & Seattle...D. Rack and Jes Grass (you may know if as the other part-owner of the whalers) seem to have more better years then down years...Vancity will take a hard look to see what they can do to add to stay in grasp...Also do the Blues just sit and see what happens in the Elite 8?
10. heard that everyone is available for the team that plays in the city of rivers...Mark is finding for elite 8 spot? I dont think hawks will move Bailey (well not at this time) I guess the question for the soon to be UFA is whats he worth and is this a Matt Moulson type stat explosion? I dont...
11. There was some talk last season about a LIVE draft Party, not sure if the Commish & Co. are going to pursue that but lets be honest the funnest time of the year is the draft...I guess it would have to be in the T.O region???
12. Surprise pick of the year goes to Wings Yanni Gourde 3rd overall in rookie score...and Seattles D is scary good (3 in the top 10) and Letang sitting at 12th ...well played sir
13. Well congrats to the city of Buffalo, your Bills finally made the playoffs (was the longest streak of all 4 major sports not to make the playoffs)Lets Go Buffalo!! I know Mr.Swat of the Sabres loves it and cant wait to watch the game with friends from port...also Hmm wings sound good just about now..
