Isn't it a little too early to tank?? Just trying to put my stamp on the team I inherited...I had to start early to try and finish behind you so Edmonton doesn't end up with another superstar in the making courtesy of The Flyers.

Just trying to put my stamp on the team I inherited...I had to start early to try and finish behind you so Edmonton doesn't end up with another superstar in the making courtesy of The Flyers. difference being you've traded away all your players who were producing for guys who are bombing...and you'd be in the top 5 or 6 if you werent dealing them away,...especially being only the third week of the season...seems like purposely tanking to land mcdavid, just saying. the league wouldnt do anything about that anyways since guys last year just stopped updating their roster and nothing happened.. my team was horrible already, so thats just a bad dig at my team...

not sure O'Malley is "on purpose" tanking or not... sure, a couple of the deals are head scratchers (haha), but he is getting back young talent/what he wants in return... plus, guys like Moulson, Mason, Brassard, etc. are still pretty serviceable guys... guys for the future like Nylander, Ritchie, etc. are the guys he is after and looking to build/start a future with.
as long as GMs are setting their line ups and not intentionally benching players, these trades are fine with me...

I'm trying to rebuild and shed contracts (that in my opinion are too high), get younger, stack my assets and maybe eventually finish TOP 3, not top 8....

nothing wrong with that, i agree picks and young talent is essential, ritchie, mylander will both be awesome in 3 to 4 years...now trading away landeskog, ryan, anderson, rask, kunitz, ribero, daley, spezza etc, who yes may make too much, but those players right there would likely get you top 5....(i know some were before the draft, just saying in general)
i can see shedding $$$ and building for the future, but 3 weeks into a 7 month season looks a little odd. you inherited a better team then half the teams in this league and dropped all the top talent on it. unless you use those assets to try to say land a few top 20 players you'll be finishing bottom three, puts you closer at landing mcdavid, it looks to me a little like tanking, that's all i was saying. if you did it in february i wouldnt have cared, and saying you're trying to get a head start on landing in the bottom doesnt make that any better...
oh well, i've said my beef...

Yesterday after night shift I saw that the trade was approved and put my guys in the line up, masterbated, went to bed. Woke up, somehow became CEO of food and drink, hung some drywall, got the kids from school took them to swim lessons, made supper-ate supper, bathed the kids put them to bed, watched the world series went to bed. Got up, fed kids, sent them to school, tried to masterbate but saw this mess. So Staal is activated (see flames IR), cap HIT 73.38M. Oh, and O'Malley welcome to the league, and Mur try masterbating.
