The face of the Franchise since the Inaugural Draft 07 (taken 8th overall) has been moved to the Hartford Whalers. In what was a little shocking move from team President and GM Virgo saying this was a move for the present and long term foundation of the franchise and its fans. You could tell he was a little sad to see his Captain go at the news conference today in Montreal. But insisted this was a move made by him and the organization there was no pressure from ownership as Toews will be making north of 10M in 15-16. Virgo also confirm there was a few other deals on the table that were hard to pass up but we felt this was the correct one to take even if Ryan Johansen hasn't signed yet...Virgo noted thats the next on the To Do List with a smile. Time will tell if Virgo and Co. made the correct move and you got to bet all of Montreal and its fan plus other Teams will be waiting to see what the Habs can turn those picks into down the road.

The Hartford Whalers are excited to bring in one of the best young leaders in the game. We are sad to see Johansen go as he has a bright future. The Whalers want to win now and that 6.3 contract is good for this year, next year at over 10 will be rough but this is a gamble we are willing to take. We want to be no where near the bottom 6 again, fuck it's painful down there.
Gm Goater has been quiet in the off season so far, but he's ready to deal and make a run for top 3.
