As Three ways go someone is always playing with themselves, watching from the other side of the bed...Waiting but not ever getting into the fun stuff!! Okay Folks, I hope you got the pun.. so 3 way trade with the Leafs (Kooch), Wings (Rack) and Hawks (Melch). We will work are way down so starting with TOR Kooch and the 4th place Leafs who enter tonight just shy of 15pts from getting into the top 3. Grabs Jay Bow whom is playing some good hockey as of late with 28pts and a great +21. Does he have more left in the tank? That question is asked a lot when dealing with the +/- & PIM stat/cats....Leafs think so and should still get anywhere in the neighbourhood of +5, +7 and another 15pts. Jay is a good No.3 and will look good pairing up with Demers. Leafs also add no longer prospect M.Folingo dont look for a lot of pts from this guy, but should fill in the 4th line great with his PIMS. Leafs did well here getting a player that should help in the + cat and as well another in the PIMs..... DET Onto Mr.Rack and Co. I feel he adds the best player in the three way so Rack must of been the king in the 3way ...We will look at the numbers below...but Wings grab a soon-to-be rock star in Evander. He's young left winger on a good contract. He might not be a top winger yet but is pushing, should at the very least be a Top 4 FWD, and yes those are hard to come by..and long term potential this guy could be that 1st liner 70pt player...Matt Puempel will be a left winger when he gets to the show right now he is adjusting to the pro-level. Puempel potential is Top 6, we have him peg as good 3rd liner that might add some pts in a lesser role. But is a decent B level prospect. Okay CHI Mr. Melch makes a bold move and adds two players and two more picks. Gagner is the main piece of the deal at this time and must be moving forward. Sam has been getting a lot of talk talk (see Hockey Central at noon the past 2 days)..anyhow a great character player in the dressing room which will help in the hawks dressing room. Gagner is a good L2 player, some put as maybe more lines of a top 9 meaning he isn't just quite there for the solid pts we see in TOP 6 FWDs, but still puts up .40-.50ppg and adds in some other cats. Holland needs more ice time to show he can produce like he has in the AHL, still consider a Top 6 Fwd upside and a good B Level prospect...Hawks get back a 1st round entry and it might be a lottery (which there own could end up hmm lucky AVS I think). But its been a "Blackhawk down" as of late when the this team drafts high (top 5). But has found gems in later rounds...needs his scouting staff to come through as this pick brings you "All-Star" type player at the very least a good A level prospect. Lastly that grab the a late round pick in the 3rd round again this has been melchers area where he has got good-great players..wait and see here folks... Okay... WINNER: WINGS as noted above we will look at the numbers (and remember this is just one man's opinion, not the commish or gm of the habs:) The Wings get it as noted they get the best player, yes kooch did well grabbing what he got as this should help him make a charge to the TOP 3...But Rack gets as noted a great young LWinger who should and could be a first liner (all-star SFHLER) as of 2014 age Gagne - 25 - $4.8/3yr - PPG .52 Kane - 23 - $5.2/6yr - PPG .65 also Kane can add in other cats/stats - PIMS and GOALS In closing Hawks didn't trade a "FRANCHISE PLAYER" or some say elite status but must i mean must draft a very good player in the fall draft that can come into his own quickly doesn't have to suit up in 2014 but must be here by 2015 and getting the pts and also going up...find a good B+ prospect in the 3rd round that is nhl ready and hope that Gagner gets put on the wing and (NHL oilers trade him-but wouldn't cause they overvalue him -see HC @ noon)...traded to a team he can put up those 40-50 pt seasons then, and only then I see Melch smiling... Regards,
Virgin PuckBunnies Ink.
