Big Deal goes off on Big Ass snow day!!
St. Louis with having a great system drafted by since-departed GM Mitch (rumours have him and some partners buying and or looking at expansion in 2017-18). Moved one of those pieces to gain a great winger in Marian Hossa. When a player is in the .80 range for pts per game you have a solid 1st liner and thats what Hendu gets in the 34yr old. I still think he could put up 60pts next season but look for him to sail into the Czech sun sooner rather then later....Van City grabs there first ever overall draft pick in Brett Connolly whom some was rush way way to early and it shows.. 84 gps and 17pts broken into 3 seasons. I was very high on this player in his draft year and felt his upside was top 4 fwd, and more likely nhl transition top 6..But he's far away from that at this time look for a bounce back year in 14-15 or we could be seeing this player in Europe if he can't get it going...Funny how some have given up on 22 yr old christ still young in hockey but not in the nhl as much...christ in any other sport he would still be a Tucker Schmitt just a baby...anyhow grabbing M.Barberio project off-dmen was a nice pick up as he looks to be gaining more experience each night and looks to some day figure in the top 4. 1st Entry in 2014 as noted in all posts and videos, first rounders = good-great player, in terms of getting those top 4-6 fwd and top 4 dmen...and lastly Nucks get a 5th entry where they can grab a future player.
WINNER: by default is the Blues, Hendu gets first line all-star who still has some left in the tank (2yr max). And only trading B level prospects, with one Connolly itching closer to keeper status. The big thing is 2yrs down the road is if and when Hossa hangs the skates and Mr.Connolly is piling the pts in the 40-50 range and getting something good with the first rounder...that will work in the Canucks favour as long-term winners in this deal
