Boy oh Boy been looking forward to talking about this avalanche of a deal...Some say the wings are burning red in the city that never sleeps (cause you close your eyes and bam there goes your car)
Well were to start, Mr. Rack & Co. have been looking for a true #1 goalie for the past couple of months, one must remember if Rinne can get better from this e-coil infection in the hip...Wings will have one of the top tandems in the league with Rinne and Niemi. ...First off Rackley has too get Antti under contract as his deal of 3.8M (which is a sweet-heart of a deal) ends after the 2014-15 season...Antti is consider close to elite as you can get but true solid #1, which are hard to find. The 30yr old is a given to get in the 40win column and wings fans should expect to see those numbers for the next few years. One of my dear friends in broadcast told me this guy isn't the most fun goalie to watch but he stops the puck night in and night out., and most scouts and gms have Antti in the top 5 goaltenders in the league. You can go either way is he a elite or #1, Wings also get a decent ufa pick 2nd round to help with next seasons team. Well when you want something great you need to trade something great, and thats what Wings Management did here, they traded a boat load of future assets in young players, top prospects and draft picks... Big Nick Bjugstad is a keeper, the 6-5 centermen looks to be on his way and many including me have him as a top line scorer who will be on the PP and as well kill penalties this player in the next few years could be a roto-stat gm fantasy...Remember finding and drafting young players that could reach the upside of a top liner are hard to come by..only weakness in this kid is his skating needs to be improve...Double T, Teuvo Teravainen reminds me of a Patrick Kane type player...this player has been dealt twice in big deals so it shows how much gms like the kids potential. Another centermen but could easily enough play on the left side. Teravainene will spent a least another season with his team in Finland and should play a big role at the world Jrs, (watch this kid, he's a good speed and skill to kill)... The kid needs to add some muscle to the frame but will be given that time, more in terms of a long-term prospect the Avs get a future top 4 forward that will put the puck in the net and play on the special teams...lately Swat and the Avs add no longer prospect Jhonas Enroth the kid has decent numbers but is at best a backup at this time..still young but I feel is no better then a nhl starter...half way there, Wings traded two 1st rounders they acquire in separate deals, and boy at this time one looks to be a lottery pick...Avs need to build the pipeline up and grabbing two first rounds one that will early in the draft and the other closer to the end of the 1st round, but none the less Swat should find grade A potential in a least one pick if not both....and lastly wings traded there 1st rounder in the UFA draft, of course unsure were this position will be in 9 months but having this pick will help these avs find a good player. But one never knows if these picks will be used as trade bait or will Jamie Swat hang on to them??
WINNER: Yikes this is a hard one as the Wings traded two blue-chip prospects, but thats what they are so given that Wings come out ahead in this deal by a cm.....These deals are more of what does the Avs organization do with those picks mainly the entry 1st rounders....I already noted Rack gave up two big time prospects that teams would love to have and are A level and there aren't that many, even if some gms feel that they do have A - A+ level prospects....They are hard to find, some ppl may find it crazy that the Wings came ahead in this deal after trading 6 assets away and good chance the avs will 3 great players in a couple years and that may haunt the RedWings... But to get a goaltender that is in most cases Top 3 in the is league you got to pay the price, also wings have a great system still with 2-3 players close to A level and they still owe there own first rounder in 2014...That helps soften the blow with the trade of Big Nick and TT....
