I would like to propose a rule change to Sec 4 paragraph D – Waiver Wire for next season Based on the events of this year with so many players being waved post draft due to cap limits – I recommend that if a player is waived he can be claimed by another team for 50% of his salary. This would do two things 1) force GMs to be more cautious when selecting their keepers 2) penalize GMs who keep high priced talent with the risk they would have to eat ½ the salary of claimed by another team

Next year. If you take a chance and waive a guy and you're possibly charged half his salary if claimed and somehow he clears then they shouldn't have to go through re entry. Since we are trying to follow nhl rules here. Just a thought.

rules rules rules rules rules rules and more rules... haha who cares... waiving guys is a GM/teams right!!! most players are has beens and schmucks anyways... i like it the way it is, but am intrigued about Murman's idea about not having to go through re-entry waivers... if the NHL does it, the SFHL should too

Leave waiving the same. If another team wants to grab a player, they pay in full. Next year with possibly a higher cap, everything will be fine.
Losing re-entry waivers is good with me, if the NHL does it.

I agree with Chad, that we felt it was a good idea to switch up the waiver-wire rules from previous years (ala as it is at this moment) but I do feel that it should be change back...(yah yah yah i know another change-up) This will happen even when the cap goes up next season and beyond, all of Chad's points are well founded and I support them all and feel that this needs to be changed for the last time...

Midnight Reading
NHL WAIVER RULES:
13.3 Re-Entry Waivers. Under the 2013 CBA, re-entry waivers have been eliminated. They are gone. They don’t exist. Strike them from your consciousness.
so there you have it.......yes placing someone on WAIVERS (NHL) for assignment ie (loan or AHL) if another team does pick said player they are on the hook for the reminder of his salary (cap hit) but remember teams pay there players per day and that would = cap hit & owners are still on the hook of that salary (just doesnt count towards the teams salary cap)
