Another deal, another day and maybe another dollar at play!?!
With this deal being approved by VP of Hockey Ops, this allows us to breakdown the trade, hopefully you folks enjoy this as much as we do here..(FYI still working on making podcast and or videos in the near future)
Wings are gambling on this deal as they get the unsigned Derek Stephan. Rumours have it either a bridge style contract but my sources have said hes looking in the neighbourhood of 5M over 4-5 term. Stephan is a great Centremen with upside still in the bag, he's a guy whom many peg to be a first liner with annual pt range of 65, adding as PPP player whom can also add some in the other cats. Mark Arcobello is an overager who might be average-good bottom 6 fwd this season for the wings to help with depth.
Leafs grab two prospects and get 2 second rounders in this years draft, Cam Atkinson is a small offensive forward who might be able to stick in the top 6, look for this season in the range of 30-40 at the most with some secondary power-play time with a modest cap hit and playing on the wing this will help the leafs moving forward. The Murph comes in as A Level prospect, who's ceiling would be No.3-4, look for a modest start of say 25Pts, and maybe some pp time which could sit well with the leafs...look for the Ryan to be slotted in the No6.7 spot this season. 2 Second rounders kooch is got to like this 29th and 31st hard to guess who the leafs might take, but look for a NHL "rookie" with one pick and maybe a goaltender ??
