The Calgary Flames have traded there No.1 goalie in Craig Anderson, to the up and coming Vancity Canucks. In a deal that may have caught a few of us off guard.... This is the second big move GM Cam has made to make his goaltending look very very good (reminder he just added Elite King Henrik). What Anderson brings is first a great cap hit, Vezina type numbers...Some may not think he is in the "elite status" but one just needs to look at his numbers (projected 35+ Wins, under 2.00 G.A.A and 920% SP + shutouts!!! What it cost them was future 23yr old impact goalie Jacob Markstrom but many believe that "impact" is a few years away...But at a very good cap hit of 1.2m over the next 2yrs whom should see starting numbers...Also going to Jase and the Flames was Devan Dubnyk who has a decent SP% which shows he can stop the puck but the Wins and G.A.A isnt there for me to say he's even close to being a true No.1, more in line of a good No.2 or Starting NHLer (hitting 3.5M in cap). One wonders what the Flames have in mind at the 3rd overall section in the UFA ? They have change there goaltenders from last year in a way big way and going with two younger netminders could this be a down year for those Flames? But one must think Jase and CGY have a good plan of attack with having the 6th overall in the entry and having two picks in the top 10 in the UFA where they can find more scoring and hope that there new duo in net can withstand the pucks.... First Glance, VanCam makes a bold move in trading a blue chipper in Markstrom but getting a proven netminder in Anderson. Of course future the flames have this if Jacob can get even close to his potential billing, and grabbing a key player in the ufa is important and who knows maybe double D does get 30Wins  |
