It's definitely not as bad after you look at it a few times.
My initial reaction was "what the fuck?" but after looking at it a bunch - the only real issue I would see if the fact Melch gave up picks and not received them... but i gave up Kane, Versteeg, a first and a 2nd for Malkin so there you go - you overpay for things you want to make happen.
It could definitely have been worse if he didn't hold his ground on some picks/a pick I heard was asked for....
As Virgs said, cheaper goalie and a decent forward for guys who are question marks.
It's like the Jets-Pens Price deal where everyone lost their shit and then it sorted itself out and wasn't bad in the end.

Grass, you must be smoking the same stuff melch is if you dont think its that bad...that trade could have easily been hiller and skinner or hiller and fleish for crawf and dubi....but to addb everything else in and not even get a pick or something back....f**k**g terrible trade

first, holy f**k**g shit.
a) my team has slid to 2nd last, Skinner coming back could not have saved that. I hope he doesn't get another concussion, but the chances are greater now.
b) I have waited for Hiller to turn his season around, and he only got worse (unfortunately he may have turned that corner now...shutout last night). Either way, at 4.5 he did enough to ruin my chances this season.
c) Fleshlight has hit a slump, he could very well get hot again...but I just don't' like Florida's team, the players are not the consistent type. I see Florida sliding in the 2nd half of the season, especially with Markstrom done for the year.
d) I like Blum...sophmore slump, but hopefully the kid turns it around...
e) Crawford is cheaper (both 3 year contracts), younger and on a better team
f) Dubinsky is getting better this season, with shorties and PIM's
g) Yeah, the draft picks may have been too much. that's what it took
h) it's easy to say what you would take for a player, when you're not involved in the deal
i) This is a trade that you look at 3 years down the road, not right now
j) Tiffin posted it, but entry pick is 2012

Oh... looks like Jake "the Snake" Markstrom is only out for a month with minor knee surgery. He will be back to set the league on fire sometime in February (according to yahoo anyways). You scared me when I read that his year was done.

3 years from now Skinner is a top 10 scorer in the league, Blum is a top pairing Dman beside Weber or Suter, Crawford will be battling the likes of Michael Leighton in the AHL, and Dubinsky will still be getting paid $4.2M for 40-some points.
