Avs and Canucks come to terms on a big deal for both teams. Here's how the deal breaks down:
To COL:
Simon Gagne (LW / 2.625 / 1 way) Logan Couture / C / .816 - 2 way/prospect Adrian Aucoin / D / 2.0 - 2 way 4th UFA 2011
To VAN:
E. Malkin (C / 8.7 / 1 way) 3.5 mil cap relief on Malkin's salary S. Lepesto (D / .8 mil)
Malkin and Lepesto are both assigned to the Canucks. Canucks remove P. Kaleta (.9075 mil) from the IR to fill out roster.
Canucks new cap hit: 63.7415 mil
seeking approval...

After the deal fell through with the Hawks. GM Swat acted quickly and making a different deal with Malkin being the centre piece in this deal. Let another superstar has been traded. I think the Canucks get a player in the top 3 in fantasy value when healthy. Malkin has missed games this year and last year, but this guy when playing is in the elite level 100+ pts. Swatter and the Avs after making a statement that its this year or bust. Getting waiver claim Gagne will only help if he can find the back of the net. Logan Couture is the main piece in the Malkin deal, this player could be a finalist in the Calder. Having a great year but whenever dealing with a young player caution must be used when deciding if he can be a 30 goal scorer (somphere seasons are a pregnant dog) Acucion will help the back end for the push to the top 3 and getting a 4th rounder in ufa will maybe net swat a role player or diamond in the ruff. One must also though look at the avs track record in the first two year making brass moves netted the avs 1st place and then 2nd ,........
