The Toronto Maple Leafs have totally cleared house and are prepared to start from scratch looking ahead to the 2011-2012 season. Leafs GM Jan Kamenski has been heard saying that the Leafs are on 2 year plan and will be competing again for the SFHL title come the 2012-2013 season. "You know, it's been a tough year for all involved, but this can only make us stronger as a unit", Kamenski said on the Off the Record with Michael Lansberg last evening. Kamenski says the Leafs will still be a competitive team next season, but a legitimate shot at the title may not come for a couple seasons. "We're still a little shy in the crease area moving forward, but we're very happy with how some of our young guys have progressed with Dubie's play of late with the big club and Desjardins and Peters in the minors. We're really big on Desjardins and hope he can pan out and be our diamond in the rough." The deal breaks down like this: To the Avs:Patty Marleau (6.900--1way) Bryan Bickell (0.542--2way--OP) BJ Crombeen (0.873--1way) 2nd entry pick (Leafs-2011) FOR To the Leafs:Phil Kessel (5.400--1way)* Alex Steen (3.362--1way) Blake Comeau (0.650--2way) *1.000 cap relief on Kessel's salary Roster Moves: - Marleau, Bickell and Crombeen all report to the Avs - Kessel, Steen and Comeau all report to the Leafs Avs Cap: $62.9605Leafs Cap: $61.4935SEEKING APPROVAL (ideally before tonight's games... )

Kamenski and the ever changing Maple Leafs make another deal. One must think that Owner Kooch had some say in this deal by getting pure-goal scorer Phil Kessel. This was the price to pay to get him in dealing Patty Marleau whom is having a below avg season but could pick that pace up sooner the Avs hope. Adding Crombeen will help the pim cat, the addition of Bickell will also add some sandpaper & pts. Leafs also dealt 2nd rounder in this years draft which could be the dealbreaker in this deal. Yes Steen is having a career year but will this countine next year as one must think in this deal leafs are going too protect him and kessel.....the ever changing leafs must first find a goaltender to get the team back on the tracks, if not both kooch and Kemenski will find themselfs working for the Marlies....
