The Maple Leafs and Kings have made a deal involving the following players:
To the Kings: Chris Kunitz (3.725)-- 1 way Maxim Afinogenov (0.800)-- 2 way 3rd rd entry pick (Leafs-2010)
FOR
To the Leafs: Tomas Vokoun (5.700)-- 1 way Ryan Callahan (2.300)-- 1 way Raitis Ivanas (0.600)-- 1 way
Leafs Cap Hit: $60.728
The Leafs just could not wait for Pekka Rinne to turn his game around and had to make a move to try and get back in the goaltending stats. Vokoun is someone who plays a lot, is a slow starter, but has potential for some decent numbers. Rinne will take this time to re-group and hopefully be stronger for it in the future. See the roster moves page for more roster changes to make this deal work.
I'm assuming it will be coming forward shortly when Tiffin is on here, but curious who is filling Vokoun's void since the trade can't be approved without it due to the Kings only having one target on the 22 once this goes through. nor would they have the full amount of 22 due to trading 3 and getting 2 in return.
Alright Kings & Leafs, I finally read all the detials on this trade since its in about 3 different Boards/Threads which is fine. But start copying/paste the details under the trade so I can approve the trade faster and or League Office doesnt need to be reading 10 different post. I really need roster moves/cap hit on this thread next time.......
So Cap hit on LAK 61M and then Signed theodore to make the correct roster position & size good.
TRADE APPROVE: [shadow=red,left,300]TEAMS ARE EXPECTED TO MAKE ROSTER CHANGES ASAP [/shadow]
so are you saying that all roster moves attached to a trade should just be posted in the trades part of the message board?? just to keep it in one spot from now on?
well yah the roster moves can just be attach too the trade(makes life easy for you & me)...free agency still needs to be put into the Free Agent Board...
Pekka Rinne appears to have sent a message to Leafs GM Jan Kamenski that he should not be sent down to the Marlies to work on his game and build some confidence. On the eve of his departure, Rinne shut down a powerful Chicago team 2-0 to earn his first shut out of the season. Kamenski, of course estatic by the result, offered this message: "That's what we've expected all year from Pekka, but unfortunately at this point in the season we felt we needed to make a move to get back some solid goaltending numbers. Will Pekka be back? Well, let me just say this, Vokoun can always be waived and we're willing to eat some money if we have to cross that bridge."
Wow.... Kamenski sometimes quick to make roster moves was not shy about his stance about Tomas Vokoun coming aboard. The Leafs brass are willing to give Vokoun a chance hoping that the amount of games he plays will soon start showing a change in his numbers and allow Rinne more time to blossom and grow. Stay tuned for more on this story in the future, but for now the Leafs message to Rinne appears to have worked for one night and hopefully this only inspires the team to keep performing.
