The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Hartford Whalers have struck a deal on the very first day of the regular season. It looks to be a pretty even trade, with the whalers going for immiediate help by bringing in Alex Burrows to help with his LW that wasnt quite strong enough until today. While the Pens get more future with this trade landing impressive rookie goaltender Semen Varlamov, who is looking to take the crease away from Jose Theodore. We caught up with GM Goater to see his thoughts on his deal today, "Well, it was real tough to give up Varlamov, REAL tough, we think hes going to be a good goalie in this league, but with us having Ward and Miller, we feel those two are our goalies of the future, so I was able to make this move landing Alex Burrows, and a strong prospect in Eric Tangradi, so the whalers organization is happy to boost our LW position".
The offical Details of the trade are as follows:
To Pits: S.Varlamov $822,000 (prospect, 2way) 4th round ufa 2010
To Hardford: A.Burrows $2,000,000 (pitts takes on $500,000 of salary) 1way Eric Tangradi (prospect, 2way) no salary yet
Team Cap Hits:
whalers cap hit is the same, as im sending down: Joel Ward 1,500,000 *OP (2way) for Burrows $1,500,000 (1way)
whalers cap hit: 58,804,000
Pens Cap Hit: Not available as per club policy (acually i just dont know but mark can reply to this with the numbers)

Good Good....this is what I would like to see when teams are posting trades...its much easier to read....remember you must first get league approval (commish right know) before posting the trading and making the changes in Yahoo ---when leagueoffice gets all the team caps and salaries then anyone from leagueoffice can approve a trade if I am unable to get to the computer.......as such teams will get a warning if salaries or cap are incorrect follow by teams getting suspend and so for...(so double check your salaries, and if you have questions ask them)

Pens moves
Add: LW- Ruslan Fedotenko ( 1.8M, 2 way contract) .. i dont think this counts as a call up.
sending Varlamov to the minors... (822K, prospect)
Total cap hit: 61.679

I believe this does count as a call-up.
C. CALL-UPS (2 per Player) 1) Players may only be called-up a total of two times. 2) If a player has been called-up due to a player being placed on the IR this will not count towards the set limit. 3) Player on a Two-way contract will pass through re-entry waivers,
