Minneapolis - There were some moves made yesterday at the bi-annual GM meetings. An update from previous posts.
The last recorded cap hit was following the return of Vesa Toskala and Johnny Oduya to the lineup from the IR. That hit was $55,788,000. We're starting there.
Immediately, Oduya was sent to the minors. He is currently less than 6 hours away from clearing. At that time it was announced Milan Jurcina would be returning to the squad to take his place. This has since been changed. Jurcina will be staying in Iowa for the forseeable future.
IF Oduya clears, the cap hit is $52,288,000. If he does not, the hit is 54,038,000. Either way, that number is not being considered until after 6:30 p.m. this evening.
So, the North Stars have made the following deals, starting with $55,788,000 committed to the cap.
To Philadelphia: Mikael Samuelsson ($2.5 million), 3rd round UFA To Minni: Braydon Coburn ($1.3 million), 2nd round UFA New Stars cap hit: $54,588,000
To Chicago: Ryan Kessler ($1.75 million), 7th round UFA To Minni: Andrew Cogliano ($850,000), Wojtek Wolski ($2.8 million) New Stars cap hit: $56,488,000
To Edmonton: Wojtek Wolski ($2.8 million) To Minni: Chris Pronger ($6.25 million), conditional entry pick. New Stars cap hit: $59,938,000. The conditional pick is based on the Oilers' success. If they finish Top 3, the 2010 4th round entry pick comes to the North Stars. If the Oilers finish 4th or lower, the 2010 3rd round entry pick comes to the North Stars.
Finalized cap hit will follow both here and on the Yahoo board once Oduya clears.
