The Maple Leafs yet again have struck a deal. The deal breaks down like this:
To the Wings: Jonas Hiller (1.300--1 way) Nick Boynton (1.500--2 way) Nick Foligno (0.676--1 way)
FOR
To the Leafs: BJ Crombeen (0.872--2 way, prospect) 4th round UFA pick (Wings-2010)
There will be a plethera of roster moves to make this one work. Here is what we know so far:
Leafs Roster moves: - Foligno will be activated from the IR - Steve Bernier will be sent to the Marlies - Jimmy Howard (0.717--2 way, prospect) called up from the Marlies (1st call up) - Crombeen will report to the Leafs
Wings Roster Moves: TBD--- but it can be assumed that Hiller, Boynton and Foligno will somehow be on the Wings with a couple roster changes to come.... do I hear Giggy calling his travel agent?? haha
Leafs Cap Hit: $59.887 Wings Cap Hit: TBD
The Leafs have mixed feelings about seeing Hiller and company go. Boynton and Foligno were solid role players who brought some grit to the line up, but with the acquisition of Konopka last evening, both became expendible. Crombeen brings a bit more gusto and potential scoring touch that the Leafs lost when trading McLeod to the Jets. Hiller had an up and down career with the Buds, stealing the starters role from Giggy last season, but was unable to hold a strong grip on the #1 starter's job alongside Rinne this season. The Leafs hope that Howard can continue his strong play and help carry the Leafs back into the top 3 and make a strong push for the top crown later this season.

Wings moves, all coinciding with the earlier trade with the Oilers:
To Wings Roster S. Hartnell / LW / 4,200,000 N. Boynton / D / 1,500,000 N. Foligno / LW / 676,000 J. Hiller / D / 1,300,000
To Griffins A. Ebbett / C / 487,000 (2-way)
Waived JS Giguere / G / 6,000,000 M. Schneider / D / 1,550,000
Wings Salary if both players are claimed: 61,355,000 If one or both players clear waivers, Wings salary will obviously be lower. Any way, Wings will be under the cap. Full cap details to be determined in 23.5 hours.
