E. BUY-OUTS AND RELEASING PLAYERS 1) Teams will only need to buy out players if they come to the max players allowed. 2) Buying out a player salaries will be cut in half and will count towards team cap. These players will be consider free agents.
Langenbrunner will have to be waived, not bought out. Tried to find a loophole eh...

Swat i just got home from showing the ladies the guns at the show(gym)...why is this a stupid rule??? Buyouts was too keep player rosters set at 50 (as too teams not stockpilling abunch of euros/russian in hopes they would return) so if no one claims Langenbrunner he is on the farm with no cap hit to your team...so you can a waive this player and if he gets picked up it would be the same effect as you stated above.(buyout)..............i hope this explains my rules on this issue.... -> Hossa's salary being paid by another team from another deal ?? after that its good swat and goat

Looks like he was trying to keep any other team from getting Langer, as we're all pretty much out of FA signings. Hence the attempted buyout vs waiving.

exactly right...i knew somone would pick him off waivers so I thought i could buy him out and that way if you really wanted him you would have to pay 2.8 and not the 1.4
